This week we have learned about food decomposition and how it can be recycled into compost, to give nutrients to future plants. As a result of further inquiring into this process, we learned that the first thing that happens to fruits is that they lose their water, thus becoming dehydrated. And guess what!!!! we tried dehydrated fruit in the classroom and we loved it!!! We enjoyed raisins and apricots, but we will now try some more at home…DSC00576 (768x1024) DSC00577 (1024x768)

Today we went to see “Robin Hood” at the Qatar National Theatre. We had a great time and enjoyed the adaptation they made of the play. We had a fab time in the bus singing popular songs both in Spanish and English!! In the theatre main hall we could also  see a huge family tree, which we linked to our former unit of inquiry about ‘Family Histories’.

During our book week celebrations, we were very lucky to have some of our mums come and read to us in their mother-tongue language.

This week in Grade 2 we have been researching about various forms of pollution: land, water and air pollution. Together with our classmates, we are creating posters that will give others information about the causes, effects and solutions of these various types of pollution.

As a summative assessment task, we created a song in out Unit of Inquiry on Languages. Mr Devin helped us initially in creating the melody and together with Miss Eva, Miss Teagan, Miss Carmen and Miss Mariam, we wrote lyrics in English, Spanish and Arabic. We hope you enjoy our performance!!!

Here are some of the Kenn Nesbitt poems we have been listening to in our Unit of Inquiry on Languages. Can you find the rhyming words?

Below are some links to poetry websites that you can access at home to improve your skills in rhyme and rhythm.

In our current unit of inquiry, we learned how to write instructions. We found out that recipes are a good example of a step-by-step process and so we wrote some recipes about what we enjoy making at home. We then voted the preferred ones and here you are the results, in case you want to do some cooking.20150223_091340 (1024x768) 20150223_091347 (1024x768) 20150223_091400 (1024x768)IMG_20150331_083543
