Today, we celebrated the Hispanic Day in the school. The students had a great time dancing and playing games with songs from different Hispanic countries. Here they are, dancing to a South American rhythm, while trying to hold a Ping-Pong ball amongst the two of them.

They also hand painted their own Indian portraits with beautiful colours!

While exploring our family and cultural identity, the grade 2 students brought in some very interesting artifacts from their homes.

We did a formative assessment on our 2-D shapes by making 2-D Monsters!!

We each chose our own shapes to use and we also decorated each monster individually.

We had lots of fun!

We have been working very hard to learn our different plural endings.

Here are the websites that we used in class for you to use at home for practice.

Who wants to be a millionaire?

We had long discussions about how we would like to be called this year and we agreed on two very different names: the owls (grade 2A) and the danger snakes (grade 2B). Here we are with some pictures that we voted for 🙂

During this week, both grade 2 classes sat down to discuss and create their essential agreements.

These are a list of rules that we will aim to follow in our classroom, decided on by the children.

We worked together, sharing ideas and have now put in place our classroom essential agreements. It was a great end of year celebration! Grade 2 A and B joined classes and we enjoyed the last two sessions of the day together. Some classmates are leaving today until next year, so we decided to spend some time together to say good-bye to this academic year. We shared some delicious food and juices and we watched a film together, with some popcorn!!!! Thank you to all the parents for letting us have this celebration with such nice home made food!!!!

Grade 2 students had some great sessions playing with different measuring tools and discovering what was to be measured with each one of them. They worked together to figure out how to use the different gadgets and together became real inquirers.

Julia took action on her learning and brought in her knowledge of measurement to make the lemonade required for our fundraising activity last Thursday.

Well done for being a risk-taker and trying out more things and for being knowledgeable, showing your learning on measurements so far.

We have just finished a unit on the Earth and, as a result, have become more knowledgeable about its natural resources and how to conserve them.
Not too long ago, we were all shocked by the news about several earthquakes taking place in Nepal. While discussing this in the classroom, we agreed to take some action to help this affected area.
This last week, the grade 2 students sold lemonade and cookies in the school to other students and teachers. The money collected was to be sent to Nepal to support all the people affected by the earthquakes. A representative from RAF Foundation, who attended this fundraising event, thanked us for our generosity and collected the money at the end of it.

We feel very proud to have taken action to help so many people in need in Nepal at this moment.
